Wedding Planner Extraordinaire - Rasha Badran from The Purple Chair has been planning weddings in the UAE for years. So who better to give their valuable real-world advice for brides-to-be on what to do and what not to do when planning a wedding?
Read on as Rasha shares her top Do's and Don't's for planning the perfect wedding in the UAE...
Don't: Try to combine too many ideas and themes, it will be overwhelming and might not turn out the way you hoped. Select things that create the best harmony and are all relevant to your theme
Don't: Stress too much about rain. Most hotels have a back-up plan. Worst case scenario you can always move your wedding indoors. This may seem stressful however most hotels are well trained and can handle the situation easily. Make sure you discuss that with your venue when selecting the right hotel for you.
Don't: Don't worry yourself with all the small details. Once you have picked your planner and are confident she/he will do a good job then take this time to your advantage to start focusing on other things such as your dress/hair/makeup etc. With regards to decor, pick the things that are most important to you and get involved in those. Do not stress out during the planning period. Leave the hard work to the professionals as that is why you hired them!
Make-Up & Hair
Don’t: try a dramatic new change on your big day. You want to look like the best version of yourself. Also, don’t try any new beauty treatments or extreme tanning right before your wedding!
Do: Wait until you have a venue, a theme, and a flower design before you choose your cake. These three elements are huge in deciding what your cake should look like. If you are hosting a rustic wedding, go for a rustic cake. If you are hosting a beach wedding, perhaps go for a nautical cake or choose flowers for the cake that compliment the look you are going for. Never choose the cake before you have decided on these three elements!
Don't: Always go for the classic vanilla or chocolate wedding cake just because they are the usual. There are so many different flavours available that your guests would love to try. Try something different in summer like a sponge cake with a fruit filling to compliment the season, or a hazelnut and mocha cake for winter.
Don't: Pick a venue that you don't like in hopes that you will decorate it enough to change it. That will be a stressful and expensive decision to make.
