Toodles for now.
Emily Deschanel, our favourite on-screen anthropologist, gets my vote for best hair and make-up - mostly because this is such a change from her usual red carpet look. It's great to see her softer side with this wavy up-do, candy pink lip and smokey eye. She has such strong features that her blunt straight hairstyles and strong lips of her usual look, make her look quite severe! I love this look on her, well done Emily, looking fabulous!
Sofia Vergara is one of my favourite comedic actresses and so unbelievable pretty! I love the lighter hair colour she has gone for here as we raresly see her change colour from her natural dark brown. She's done it well and lightened her eyebrows as well so the look is polished. I love her make-up here - she rarely gets it wrong. A good strong top line and a neutral lip colour are executed perfectly here with her deep red dress. A great look :)
January Jones looks flawless on the red carpet at this year's Emmys. Playing off her fair complexion with this beautiful light pink dress, I just love her body wave hairstyle. It's just the right amount of chic and playful and the severe side part and tuck behind the ear is the perfect way to wear a wavy style like this. Understated smokey eyes and nude lips finishes the look off perfectly, and the minimal jewellery on the neckline means your eye is drawn straight to that perfect face!
Kaley Cuoco (from one of my favourite shows 'The Big Bang Theory') wore this season's trend of wine/plum in both her dress and eyeshadow. This is a great example of matching gone right. I love the drama of the eye make-up, something we don't often see from Kaley. She's been smart to keep her hair soft and understated with such a strong emphasis on her eye make-up, and the same goes for her neutral lip colour. I would have liked to see the eyeshadow slightly more blended for my personal taste, but this look has been executed well so it's all good :)
And now the stars (with their army of stylists, make-up artists and hair stylists...how?!) who didn't get it quite right. I'm gonna start with my absolute worst...
Lena Dunham shows us exactly how 'matchy, matchy' can go so very wrong and should generally be avoided by most! Matching the turquoise of her dress to the exact same shade in her eye make-up and colouring such a large area of the eyelid in this colour looks terrible! Add to that the relaxed style of the hair (completely not done actually!) and the dress, this strong statement eye make-up just looks so bad!
While Sarah Hyland might be on trend with this look there's something about it on her that I just don't like. Honestly, I think it ages her like crazy. I was looking at her look last year with a wavy soft hair do and lighter make-up, and she just looks so much fresher. Perhaps if the hair wasn't so severe and was loose I'd like it more, but with the lace in the dress, big earrings and the hair - this look would be better on someone much older than her.
That's all for now. We'll be back soon with some reviews and makeovers for you.
